Does a smart meter emit more radiation than a cell phone? Do they exceed FCC public exposure standards? See for yourself

3 Sep

Burbank Water & Power is telling us that smart meters emit less radiation than cell phones.   Is your utility saying the same thing?  After PG&E told Amy O’Hair that, she decided to find out for herself.  Seeing is believing, so watch the truth:

Can you trust your utility to look after your health and safety?  PG&E’s smart meter emits RF radiation levels higher than a cell phone.  Keep in mind that. on May 31, 2011, the World Health Organization classified the type of RF radiation emitted from cell phones as a Class 2-B carcinogen, on par with lead and DDT.   Do you want DDT sprayed on your home 24/7 every day of the year,  every year of your life?

Talk about toxins and poisons: PG&E  is the same utility that denied it was dumping toxins in Hinkley, CA, poisoning the environment and residents there.  Erin Brockovitch documented the truth and sued them.  Now PG&E and other utilities are poisoning residents in communities throughout California with their RF smart meters.  Residents are outraged and want this to stop.

You can power off your cell phone so you won’t be exposed 24/7, or elect not to have one or use one in your home.  In contrast, the utilities won’t let you power off your smart meter and are forcing them on us, making them mandatory — even though the Federal government has not mandated them on our homes.  What’s happened to our rights to privacy, and to protect our health, lives, and the safety and sanctity of our homes?

If you live in a condo or apartment complex, and wondered what it’s like to live and sleep above  a panel of these, watch this video:

By the way, apartment renters have rights, too, and are taking measures to oppose smart meters. So if you live in apartment or condo complex, and your utilities tell you that smart meters on a panel still emit less radiation than a cell phone, then watch this video:

The FCC limit for public exposure to microwave radio-frequency radiation is about 600 microwatts per square centimeter.  The panel of meters above emitted 873.  Would you like to live above or next to that panel?

Consumers are reporting that smart meters are giving them non-stop headaches, insomnia, heart palpitations and body aches, and making them so sick they are going to have to move.  They are also reporting that the smart meters are making their animals/pets ill.   Is this fair/  Is this right?  Is this the United States of America that you grew up loving and respecting?

Some 45 local governments in California oppose smart meters, and are joining state-level efforts seeking no-cost opt outs for their communities.

Meanwhile, Burbank is just standing there at the starting line.

Call and write your utilities and Mayor and City Council today and refuse smart meters at your home or complex.  Tell them why, too, and demand the right to keep or restore your analog meters at no extra cost and with no higher rates.   Send No Consent letters via certified mail.   If you or they are a Burbank resident, sign our Petition.  Tell your family, friends and neighbors to do all of the above, too.

Take action.  Share what you learn with others. Educate yourself about smart meters and find helpful tools to take action at:  www.StopSmartMeters.org, www.EMFSafetyNetwork.org, and www.SmartMeterDangers.org, and www.BurbankAction.com

Excellent article! This shows the deceit of all the utilities that minimize the high risks they are subjecting us all to.

So shouldn’t installation of Wireless smart meters on people’s homes STOP?

Because Cell Phone use and other devices are Voluntary and can be shut off at the user’s discretion, that is a different issue.

Note: many of the tests on non-ionizing radiation (the type of radiation emitted by smart meters) have been done using instruments other than smart meters because smart meters have only been in people’s homes for a very short time.

But as a Wireless smart meter emits 100 times more radiation than a cell phone, it is not difficult to project. If a machine gun fires 100 bullets in the same time that a pistol fires one bullet, it is not difficult to project the harm that the machine gun can inflict, even if the tests were done with the pistol.

We received the brochure in the mail and the very next day the installer was out here to install one of these devices. I declined so that I could study the issue. I wonder why they don’t send the information over the power lines, that would erase the emf issues totally. Of course that would leave the privacy issues and the control issues still in place.

Finally figured out after moving to a rural community in Maine and developing hypertension that there is a smart meter on my home. We have contacted the local utility to remove and replace the meter but they said they didn’t know when that would happen. Thankful for all the intelligent and hardworking people of California to get the ruling to have them criminalized. Utilities are preying on the weak and the uneducated leaving them vulnerable.

  5. Jay Greenstein June 28, 2012 at 5:46 pm #

Let’s see. They measured 873 microwatts. That’s 873 MILLIONTHS of a watt, measured AT the transmitter. But radiation power drops as to the square of the distance, so if you’re standing ten feet away the strength is a tiny fraction of that. And that signal pulses once per fifteen minutes for a few thousandths of a second. You get a LOT more then that from the people who are carrying cell phones all around you. You believe that infinitesimal amount is causing major health problems? Have you ever measured the fields near a large broadcast station that’s putting out millions of watts, not millionths? Somehow the people there aren’t being fried. How many ham radio users are dead of radiation? How many people who are reading this have a wireless modem talking to their computer. That has a radio in both the modem and your computer, one that’s transmitting all the time, not just every fifteen minutes. Are you suffering from headaches because of it?

They teach us science in school. This is crap. Worrying that a device that puts out a cellphone level signal

Thanks, Cheryl, for sharing what happened to you in your community in Maine. I hope your utility has been able to replace your meter. Please read what’s happening in Maine on the legal front, if you haven’t already: http://www.citizensforsafetechnology.org/Smart-Meter-Opposition-Appeals-to-High-Court-US,25,1499. Have you noticed that residents in more states are joining the opposition against mandatory smart meters and their opt out fees? The Smart Meter Opt Out Proceedings at the Calif. Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) continue here in California, and a disability group (Center for Accessible Technology) has joined the proceedings to point out how the smart meter opt out fees violate state and federal disability laws: http://www.electrosmogprevention.org/smart-meter-resources-links/ca-state-utility-codes-support-no-opt-out-fees/. The Center for Electrosmog Prevention (CEP) has also brought this up in the CPUC Smart Meter Opt Out Proceedings — you can read more about this and find additional helpful information on the CEP website: http://www.electrosmogprevention.org/

To Jay Greenstein: The technical reply to your little jest how could 873 microwatts affects anybody. Take note I have a degree in electrical engineering, have worked for Boeing for 10 years in RF and am electrically sensitive. I you can’t take my advise then the looney bin for your SIR.
Not everyone has a router with wi-fi. I do not. Not everyone has a cell phone. I do not.
The signal from a smart meter is most objectionable in the middle of the night when you are supposed to be sleeping. Most people have cell phone shut off during sleep NO?

It is Pulsed HIgh Frequency that is the problem so don’t compare with AM and FM stations and all that older techology because you are comparing apples to coconuts.
Your coconut head doesn’t get open to receive new info!

All electrically sensitives take note of above argument to all no electrical engineers who don’t get it.

    It’s also getting worse.
